Joshua of Navi, Righteous Leader and Saint (†ca. 1400 BC). The faithful commander who led the Israelites into the Promised Land after forty years of wilderness wandering, succeeding Moses and dividing Canaan among the Twelve Tribes.

Feast: September 1. In Orthodox tradition, Joshua prefigures Christ as a type of salvation—his very name means 'God saves.' He stands among the Righteous Forefathers as a witness to God's faithfulness and the fulfillment of His covenant promises to His people.
