Righteous Abel, First Martyr and Shepherd. Son of Adam and Eve, whose faithful offering to God was accepted while his brother Cain's was rejected. Slain by Cain, Abel became the first human to shed innocent blood in martyrdom. Honored in the Sunday of the Forefathers. His intercession strengthens the faithful and witnesses to the eternal reward of those who serve God with a sincere heart.
