Saint Nicholas of Japan, Equal-to-the-Apostles (1836–1912). Called the Apostle to Japan, he devoted fifty years to establishing the Orthodox Church throughout Japan, building the Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Tokyo and founding numerous communities.
Feast: February 3. A missionary saint of extraordinary dedication whose labors brought thousands into the Orthodox faith, he remains the first and most beloved saint of the Japanese Orthodox Church.
