Saint Symeon the New Theologian (949–1022), one of only three saints bearing the title 'Theologian' in Orthodox tradition. A mystical poet and Abbot of St. Mamas monastery, he taught direct spiritual experience of God's Spirit and the practice of guarding the heart. His writings profoundly influenced Orthodox hesychasm and are preserved in the Philokalia.
Feast: March 12. His intercession strengthens the faithful in contemplative prayer and spiritual transformation.
