Saint Athena, Virgin Martyr (†c. 305). One of the Forty Holy Virgin Martyrs who suffered during the persecution under Emperor Licinius in Adrianople of Thrace. Together with her teacher, the holy deacon Ammon, and her fellow virgins, she steadfastly confessed Christ and refused to worship idols, enduring martyrdom for the Orthodox faith with courage and purity.
Feast: September 1. She intercedes for those seeking steadfast faith, purity of heart, and courage in times of trial.
