Saint Irenaeus of Lyon, Bishop and Church Father (†202). Direct heir to the Apostolic tradition through his teacher Polycarp, who knew the Apostle John. Renowned for his monumental work 'Against Heresies,' defending Orthodox doctrine against Gnosticism and establishing the Canon of the Four Gospels.
Feast: August 23. His steadfast witness to apostolic faith and theological wisdom guide the Church in every generation.
